Professor Harold Ngalawa
The Acting Dean of Research in the College of Law and Management Studies, Professor Harold Ngalawa, holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cape Town; a Master of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Social Science (majoring in Economics) from the University of Malawi; and an Advanced Diploma in Treasury Management and Trade Finance from the Banking and Financial Services Academy. He is a Certified Associate of the Institute of Bankers in South Africa and member of the Economic Society of South Africa.
Professor Ngalawa’s area of specialisation is monetary theory and practice, with particular interest in the modelling of monetary policy in low-income countries. He has also carried out extensive research on banking instability, deposit insurance and monetary policy asymmetries. He has published widely in many leading journals including Economic Modelling, Journal of Applied Economics, South African Journal of Economics, South African Journal of Economics and Management Sciences, Studies in Economics and Econometrics and the African Finance Journal. He has also presented his research findings in many countries including China, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Kenya, Netherlands, Norway, Senegal, Swaziland, Tanzania, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom and USA.
Professor Purshottama Reddy
Prof Purshottama Sivanarain Reddy is a Senior Professor and subnational governance specialist in the School of Management, IT and Governance at the University of Kwazulu Natal. He is currently Vice – President : Programmes, the Project Director of the Working Group on Sub – national Governance and Development and member of the Board of Management representing the African Region of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) (Brussels). He has also served on an IASIA – UNDESA Taskforce for Effective Public Administration at the Local Level for the Achievement of the MDGs. Prof Reddy served as a member/alternate associate board member of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) (London) for a number of years, representing universities and research organisations.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Hüsig
Prof. Dr. Stefan Hüsig is holder of the chair for Innovation Research and Technology Management at the Technische Universitat Chemnitz, Germany. Before he had several positions in academia such as Interim Professor at the Chair of Innovation Research and Sustainable Resource Management at the TU Chemnitz, as an Associate Professor at the Department of Innovation and Technology Management at the University of Regensburg, Germany or as Deputy Director and founder of a new Institute for Innovation and Technology Management at the University of Economics in Prague (Czech Republic). Moreover, he had visiting positions at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado (USA), Aston Business School, Aston University in Birmingham (UK), the Clermont Graduate School of Management, Clermont-Ferrand (France) and the Fudan University in Shanghai (China).
Prof Dr Marlen Arnold
Prof Dr Marlen Arnold holds the chair Corporate Environmental Management at TU Chemnitz. Since her beginning of her scientific career in 2001 she has been dealing with strategic and innovation-related questions regarding sustainability. Marlen Arnold has been working in several research projects at the University of Oldenburg, the Technical University of Munich and the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) in Berlin. She was a research fellow at the Hanken School of Economics and the University of Vaasa, Finland. Her main fields of research are to be found in strategic management, innovation management, open innovation processes, participation, evolutionary approaches and biomimicry.
Professor Shannon Bosch
Professor Shannon Bosch (nee Goodricke) is the School of Law’s Academic Leader of Research and Higher Degrees. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree which she graduated summa cum laude from the former University of Natal (Pietermaritzburg campus). She also holds a joint-honours degree, in the disciplines Philosophy and Political Science, as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, which she received with the Jimmy Gorman Memorial award, for the best overall LLB performance, also from the former University of Natal. Bosch served her articles at Goodrickes Attorneys (Durban’s oldest law firm) before accepting the DFID Commonwealth Scholarship and the Mandela Magdalene Scholarship to read for a Master of Laws (LLM) degree, specialising in international law, at Cambridge University. She also holds a PhD from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). Bosch has been admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and is a member of the South African International Law Association (SABILA), and sits on the editorial board of the African Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law.
Professor Kutluk Özgüven
Kutluk Özgüven is a professor of Management Informations Systems at Istanbul Aydın University, Turkey. Having graduated from Bilkent University in Ankara he studied postgraduate studies in University of Manchester in the 1990s and worked at Koc, Sabanci and Dogus Universities in Istanbul as well as having acted as dean of faculty in Sarajevo and Gaziantep. Currently his interest is focused on artificial intelligence methods in management decisions while serving as Advisor to Chancellor of the largest foundation university of Turkey.
Dr Marco Lamas
Dr Marco Lamas holds a PhD in Education and Entrepreneurship. He is a managing partner of IncubIT and professor in higher education, teaching Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Education Courses. He is a business coach certified by the European Coaching Association (ECA), a business consultant and trainer certified by the Educational Scientific Council of Continuing Education (CCPFC, Portugal) in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Management and Strategy. He is a certified trainer in Teacher Training (Entrepreneurship). He is a research member of the Research Centre of Social and Human Sciences (FCSH/NOVA) at the New University in Portugal, and of the African Studies Centre at the University of Porto (CEAUP), Portugal.
Dr Paul Thomas
Dr Paul Thomas is Director, Founder DNA Research and Visiting Professor NEOMA Business School, Reims, France. Paul is known by the BBC as ‘The Business Doctor’ and is an experienced and respected speaker, author and thought leader on matters relating to organizational change and Complexity. His focus is on the structures that allow people to thrive and flourish within 21st century organisations through the lens of Complexity. Previously, he was a University Head of Leadership and Leadership Fellow in HE and is currently a University Research Fellow. His work has taken him to India, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, the USA and many European countries. In 2006/7 completed a global action research project on leadership and complexity thinking, visiting 19 countries in six months. Formerly Regional Chair and Chartered Fellow for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and a Fellow of the Institute of Consultancy. Paul is author of the book ‘Leadership from the Frontline’ (2013) and ‘Reinventing Leadership’ (2015) and recent chapter on ‘Consensual Leadership’ (2018).
Professor David Lamas
David Lamas is a Professor of Interaction Design at Tallinn University’s School of Digital Technologies, where he heads the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) academic and is the curator of the Master in HCI. He also serves as the chair of the Estonian chapter of ACM’s SIGCHI (http://sigchi.org), and as an expert member of IFIP’s TC13 (http://ifip-tc13.org).
David’s main research interests are design theory and methodologies, and he has been designing organizations, communities and human technologies, systems and more since his post-doc at Michigan State University as a member of the MIND Labs network (http://www.mind-labs.org). He has done so in the USA, UK, Portugal, Cape Verde, and recently in Mozambique, Afghanistan and Estonia, developing through his experiences an acute understanding of how to shape and lead transformation processes. <<more>>
Professor Honest Prosper Ngowi
Professor Honest Prosper Ngowi is Professor of Economics, researcher and consultant in Economics and Business at Mzumbe University. He is heading the Department of Short Courses, Research and Consultancy. He is a prolific writer who has researched, consulted, lectured and published widely (over 70 academic publications, over 80 research and consultancy reports and over 500 newspaper and magazine articles in economics, business and related areas. Ngowi has been external examiner in a number of Universities including Makerere, UDSM, Open University of Tanzania and North West University in South Africa.
He has been has been a member of various board of directors including Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF), Foundation for Civil Society (Board Chairman for two years until 2017), SWISS Aid, Restless Development, Envirocare; University of Stellenborsch Business School in South Africa and SAGCOT Centre Ltd. Professor Ngowi is a distinguished fellow at the African Centre for Technology Studies and member of Consortium of Senior Scholars at the University of Lusaka Zambia. He has also served in the position of Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bergn Norway.
As a public intellectual, he is also economics and business columnist in various newspapers including Mwananchi (Tujadili Uchumi column every Thursday); The Citizen (Economics Made Simple, every Saturday for the past 6 years none-stop) and commentator in various radios and television stations (with own TV programme of Uchumi na Biashara at ITV every Friday at 19:00 hours) discussing various current economic and business issues. He has also established own online TV by the name of Ngowi TV (www.ngowitv.co.tz) focusing on Economics, Business and Development. He is multillingual with fluency in English, Norwegian, Kiswahili and working languages in Danish and Swedish.
Dr Allan Rosenbaum
For the past seventeen years, Allan Rosenbaum has served as Director of the Institute for Public Management and Community Service and Professor of Public Administration at Florida International University (FIU), Miami, Florida. FIU is a 50,000 student state university and the Institute is its principal vehicle for working internationally in the areas of governance reform, decentralization, legislative development, strengthening local government and democratic institution-building. Toward those ends, the Institute has been involved in many projects funded by USAID and other international organizations in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. The Institute, in conjunction with Miami-Dade County government, each year organizes the Inter-American Conference of Mayors and Local Authorities, which has become the largest and most important annual meeting in the hemisphere concerned with the development and strengthening of local governance in Latin America.
Prior to assuming his current position, Dr. Rosenbaum served for six years as Dean of the School of Public Affairs and Services at FIU. Prior to that, he was, for seven years, an Associate Professor of Policy Sciences at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Graduate School, where he directed the Maryland Institute for Policy Analysis and Research, a state government-oriented public policy research institute. Dr. Rosenbaum served in the U.S. federal government dealing with executive branch-congressional relationships in the area of educational policy during the Carter Administration and on the faculty at the Universities of Connecticut and Wisconsin, Madison and held a research position at the University of Chicago. He has also worked in state government in Illinois as Assistant to the Senate Minority Leader and, subsequently, as Administrative Assistant (concerned with legislative relationships) to the Lieutenant Governor, and, for one year, served as acting budget administrator of the City of Miami, Florida.
Professor R K Mishra
Dr R K Mishra, is ONGC Subir Raha Chair Professor on Corporate Governance and Senior Professor and Director, Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, India,
a Ph.D from the University of Rajasthan and a visiting fellow at London Business School, studied for International Teachers programme at SDA Bocconi, Milan.
Dr Mishra taught at the University of Bradford, and was a visiting Professor at Maison Des Sciences De L’ Hommes, Paris, Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana and Accountancy Research Institute (ARI), Universiti of Technologi Mara, Malaysia. He is a member of the UN Task Force on International Standards of Excellence in Public Administration and Education. He is Vice President, International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration, Brussels. He is special invite on OECD Working Group on Privatization and Corporate Governance of SOEs and Asian Network of Corporate Governance. He is also a Member ‘Panel of Experts on Reforms in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs)’ set up by the Planning Commission, Govt of India, Member, Adhoc Taskforce set up by the Cabinet Secretariat, to review the Results Framework Documents (RFD) of the various ministries of the Govt of India, Adhoc Taskforce on Memorandum of Understanding, Government of India. He has been on the boards of a few public and private sector enterprises. He is on the Advisory Panel on Corporate Governance constituted by the Govt of India. He has considerable experience of teaching and guiding research for doctoral degree in management, economics, public administration and commerce. He is on the editorial boards of many national and international journals, and publications brought out by publishers of repute from India and abroad. His areas of interest include Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Development, Public Enterprise Management, Corporate and International Finance.
